‘Angel’s Trumpet, the other day you told me you could guide me along rough paths, or when I did not know which way to go:’
When the path seems to end, when you stand at the edge of an abyss and cannot see beyond it, I can help you connect with your inner map.
That day I was with a human friend who said she had heard about your toxicity, and that even smelling you might be dangerous. Although you contain many alkaloids that can cause unpleasant symptoms, the impression you left on me was entirely pleasant.
Even today I perceive your ‘medicine’, though we never touched. You showed me how to contact you through meditation, like a path already marked that I can follow when needed.
Today I was reading Diana Granados’s master’s thesis in Amazonian Studies. An elder in Puerto Nariño, Colombia, told the author stories about Angel’s Trumpet, also known as Toé, offering guidance in confusion or when an immediate answer was needed. The practice described there involved smoking it.
My approach was different—meditation only—but the messages felt similar.
