A new—or very ancient—way for plants to share their medicinal gifts with us. It moves beyond the usual extractive, utilitarian approach towards greater sensitivity and connection, where the relationship with the other being comes first.
We do not ‘use’ a plant for our benefit. We develop a relationship as equals, and from there plants share themselves. Sometimes they may suggest an infusion or a particular way to place their leaves on our body; they may also offer their medicine through seeing, smelling or sensing them, even at a distance. Once we open to our connection with Mother Earth and all her inhabitants, the barriers of distance begin to dissolve, along with our attachment to matter. We begin to explore possibilities that bring the quantum and the elements—water, earth, air, fire and ether—into everyday life.
A few days ago, a friend told me about her experience. She was walking in a park when she suddenly felt unable to breathe. She had had a bronchial condition since birth, and respiratory illness could make her feel suffocated. She closed her eyes and entered meditation, connecting deeply with that moment and place. Suddenly she noticed she could breathe freely; as she paid closer attention, she recognised the scent of eucalyptus accompanying her and allowing her to breathe deeply.
She opened her eyes and saw eucalyptus trees in front of her. She touched their branches and leaves, and felt embraced by an immense sense of well-being. Hours later she attended an alternative medical consultation, where she was told she had a strong infection but would not need antibiotics because her energy was high. She understood her deep connection with Eucalyptus, assisted by the element of air, as supporting her healing while maintaining her energy.
This is what I call Quantum Elemental Herbalism, and more of us are experiencing it. Have you experienced something similar?
